2020-22 Disruption
The great disruption of 2020-22
In 2020-22, the unprecedented lockdowns related to the COVID-19 pandemic started at the time of the Jupiter-Saturn conjunction of 2020 and continued during the Saturn-Uranus squares of 2021-22.
The crisis caused a dramatic shift towards digital platforms and apps which became indispensable to continue economic and social activity during the lockdowns:
Working from home became the norm for millions of office workers. The use of videoconferencing and online collaboration tools for online meetings has made computers more indispensable than ever.
Online shopping and entertainment greatly benefited digital platforms such as Amazon and Netflix.
Another major phenomenon was the disruption of the semiconductor industry in two different ways:
The global supply chain of semiconductors, completely dependent on Asia and particularly on Taiwan, was disturbed. This caused majors shifts in public policy by the United States. As a result, the taiwanese semiconductor giant TSMC is currently building a major production plant in Arizona.
In 2020 Apple started transitioning their computers towards their own power-efficient M1 systems on a chip. As a result, Intel lost its position as the leading supplier of microprocessors for personal computers.
